Special State Project Voting for 2026-2028

The Ballot for clubs to vote on the 2026-2028 Special State project was sent to all club presidents. All clubs may participate in the voting, and the new SSP will be announced at the Tuesday evening banquet at Convention.

The following three 501(c)3 agencies are the candidates for the 2026-2028 NJSFWC Special State Project:

  • Center for Family Services
  • Embrella
  • Moms Helping Moms

Here are brief descriptions of the three organizations:

Center for Family Services

This over 100-year-old agency provides specialized services in counseling and behavioral health, addiction and recovery, community connections, early childhood education, family support, safe and supportive housing, victim and trauma response, and workforce development.  They have 1700 employees in 60 locations with headquarters in Camden and East Orange serving the entire state.  In 2024, they served 42,000 clients.

Staff are experts in the field of at-risk youth, violence prevention, youth mental health and well-being, early intervention, and trauma response.  They have over 100 programs covering domestic violence, schools, in-home programs, homelessness and mental illness.

Speakers are available throughout the state.  We could help with newborn and baby welcome baskets; recovery/self-care bags; child/teen personal care; bedding; room decoration items, backpacks for teens and young adults; student support kits; healing through art kits; new home welcome baskets; birthday packages; food collections.

Embrella

Founded in 1972, Embrella provides services, support and training opportunities for foster, adoptive, and kinship families and others having the responsibility for and/or the interest in the well-being of children.

They work with foster children until the age of 26 and help them achieve their educational dreams with scholarship programs and one-on-one foster adolescent coaching.   While only 3-5% of foster children graduate from college, those who have worked with Embrella graduate at a 4-times higher rate.  Last year they serviced 3000 clients with a staff of 39.  They are in Princeton, NJ and provide services in all NJ counties.

Speakers are available throughout the state.  We could help with their Dreamers and Believers Project, tutoring and providing birthday parties as well as their Bag project that provides necessities for foster children in vulnerable situations.

Moms Helping Moms

This is a baby supply, including diapers, bank that provides babies with essentials to ensure a safe and healthy start.  They address period poverty and adult incontinence as well.

Founded in 2011 as a grassroots project, this agency has nine (9) employees, two of which are full-time.  They note that one in two families in NJ have diaper needs and 40% of those families need additional assistance beyond diapers.  Services are provided for children from birth to age five.  The warehouse is in Warren, NJ and the organization serves all of NJ.

Speakers are available throughout the state.  We could help collect diapers, children’s clothing up to size 5T, books, highchairs, swaddle blankets, pack ‘n plays: host in-person or virtual supply drives, sort donations in the warehouse; create literacy flashcards.
