eConnection 10/13: Fall Conference, Election Day & More

Fall Conference, October 18th

We are asking all attendees at Fall Conference to wear a mask unless eating.  This is for everyone’s protection, including those already vaccinated.   The good news is it will also help stop the flu, colds and other airborne diseases keeping us healthy for the Holiday season.

Also, we are still collecting arts and craft items for the Children’s Specialized Hospitals.  Thank you for all of your donations so far.  Once again, the NJSFWC has overwhelmed another organization with our generosity.

Election Day

Since joining the Suffragists, voting has been a cornerstone of our organization.  In NJ, we have three ways to vote according to Vote.NJ.Gov.

1. VOTE BY MAIL BALLOT

Registered voters can apply for a vote-by-mail ballot by following the instructions found at VOTE.NJ.GOV or contacting their County Clerk.

Then, VOTE and RETURN your ballot one of the following ways…

Mail: Your vote-by-mail ballot MUST be postmarked on or before 8:00 p.m. November 2  and be received by your county’s Board of Elections on or before November 8.

Secure Ballot Drop Box: Place your vote-by-mail ballot in one of your county’s secure ballot drop boxes by 8:00 p.m. on November 2. Drop box locations can be found at VOTE.NJ.GOV.

Board of Elections Office: Deliver your vote-by-mail ballot in person to your county’s Board of Elections Office by 8:00 p.m. on November 2. County Election Officials’ contact information can be found at VOTE.NJ.GOV.

2. IN-PERSON EARLY VOTING

This new option enables all registered voters to cast their ballot in person, using a voting machine, during a nine-day period prior to Election Day. You can now choose to vote, in person, when it’s most convenient for your schedule.

No matter where you live in the county, you can vote your specific ballot at any of your county’s designated in-person early voting locations. Find your county’s locations at VOTE.NJ.GOV.

In-person early voting locations will be open Saturday, October 23 through Sunday, October 31. Hours will be Monday-Saturday, 10:00 a.m.- 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. No appointment is necessary. Accommodations will be made for voters with disabilities.

3. AT YOUR POLLING PLACE ON ELECTION DAY

Vote in person at your polling place, from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Election Day, November 2.
Accommodations will be made for voters with disabilities.

Go to VOTE.NJ.GOV for your polling place, listed on the Polling Locations page.
NOTE: Your Vote-By-Mail ballot CANNOT be returned to your In-Person Early Voting Poll Location or your Election Day Poll Location.

When you vote make sure you check out the Questions.  Question 2 is of particular interest to our clubs as it refers to the proceeds of raffles.  Since we do not have a Resolution on this topic, we are not allowed to promote how to vote on this issue.  I do recommend you investigate the pros and cons of these questions and then vote.  One objective website is Ballotpedio.com or the League of Women Voters website, vote411.org.
