SPELLING BEE

Since 1989 local clubs in the New Jersey State Federation of Women’s Clubs (NJSFWC) have sponsored spelling bees for 4th and 5th graders. Clubs either hold a spelling bee of their own or ask schools to hold spelling bees., and present certificates and awards to the winners.

By sponsoring spelling bees, NJSFWC aims to keep spelling a valued component of education, one that can also be fun, rewarding and encouraging to students. The ultimate goal is to have students do their best to be the best. Look for a spelling bee in your local school or community.

If a club is interested in sponsoring a local spelling bee, go to the MATERIALS/Education and Libraries section of the website to download files that contain instructions for preparing for and conducting a spelling bee.
