Special Edition – Convention Wrap-up, New Administration, theme and Special State Project May 3, 2022

2022 convention was a great success!  Convention attendees said good-bye to one administration and welcomed another.

Congratulations to Immediate Past President Jan Hanson on a successful albeit challenging administration.   There were no guidelines to follow, no written strategy for guiding our organization through a pandemic.  So… like the great leader she is, Jan immediately set forth and asked for ideas and suggestions as to how we, as an organization, can continue to keep our members engaged and interested in our common goal, without placing our members in harms’ way.   Zoom became the venue to keep connected and carry on the mission of our organization.

She knew we all needed to find new ways to help our communities while making sure our members stayed safe.  Trying to stay within the CDC guidelines, President Hanson lead our federation through trying times.  She was able to revamp what she envisioned her presidency would have been like in a “normal” world without Covid.  She was able to “manage on the fly” due to the everyday constant CDC rule changes.  Her leadership skills were tested numerous times, and yet she was able to weather the storm for the last 2 years.  Her enthusiasm never wavered.  Our clubs were able to continue and our communities benefited from their commitment to their work.

We thank Jan for her guidance and insight and most of all, for her dedication to Federation.  We wish her and her husband Barry best wishes on their National Park Tour.

When one administration closes, another begins.  Shirley Holly was installed as the 58th President of NJSFWC at the Tropicana Hotel & Casino.  The new president’s theme will be “Love, Loyalty, Friendship – The Bonds of Volunteerism.

The new Special State Project announced is the Emmanuel Cancer Foundation (ECF).  This organization helps families of children with cancer because cancer doesn’t just affect the sick child, it affects the entire family.  ECF has four regional offices located across New Jersey.  Their main office and Central Regional Center is located in Clark, Eastern Regional Center in Wall, Southern Region Office in Woodbury Heights, and Northern Regional Center in Midland Park.  Marie Sullivan is the newly appointed Special State Project Chairman and can be reached at [email protected] for questions.  .
