Overwhelmed by Generosity: Day of Service

On November 16, the 125th anniversary of our founding, NJSFWC members went above and beyond their usual generosity by donating items and gift cards on our Day of Service for college students who have aged-out of the foster care system.

When the truck sent by embrella left the final pick up location, it was loaded with approximately 13,954 items valued at $39,936 and gift cards totaling $4,170, which adds up to $44,106 donated by our members. NJSFWC President Mary Wolf said, “I was overwhelmed by your kindness and generosity for young students!”

President Mary Wolfe was presented with an “embrella” t-shirt by Day of Service Chairman Annette Bortone.

Congratulations to Day of Service Chairman Annette Bortone and many thanks to all who donated!

About embrella

embrella, formerly Foster and Adoptive Family Services, is the leading statewide advocacy agency for foster, adoptive and kinship parents in NJ. Its mission is to provide advocacy and enriching programs and services to empower families and youth to thrive. They help foster children achieve their dreams and wishes.

Children are placed in foster care because they have experienced abuse or neglect and it is unsafe for them to remain at home. They are innocent victims of unfortunate circumstances. But they are not alone. Resource parents provide the care and support needed at a critical time in the lives of these children which is why embrella believes in supporting resource parents as they help foster children overcome difficult beginnings to lead happy and productive lives. Children in foster care are the community’s children, with the same hopes and dreams as all children.
