Operation Yellow Ribbon Sets Record

The totals are in, and we’re happy to report our best year ever! This year we donated a record number of holiday stockings to be shipped to our troops overseas, and enough funds to ship them plus more!

The totals are (drum roll, please!):

  • 2,318 stockings sent to our military
  • $5,818 donated for shipping

All stockings were given to Operation Yellow Ribbon South Jersey, a nonprofit based in Mount Laurel, NJ. Its focus is on “organizing and collecting donated U.S. Troop supplies and goodies to send to our brave Heroes deployed in harm’s way.” The organization consists of all volunteers, and they show support for our United States Military Forces serving overseas, including Iraq, Afghanistan and those supporting Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Inherent Resolve.

Thank you to NJSFWC Public Issues Chairman Lisa Levin for organizing the stocking project, and especially thanks to all the clubs and members that donated stockings and cash. It’s just one of the ways we act to make the world a better place.

Christmas stockings were filled with necessities and niceties to show our troops we are thinking of them this holiday season. Toiletries, socks, snacks and a handwritten note went into each stocking.
