NJSFWC ECONNECTION
Shirley A. Holly, NJSFWC President

INTRODUCING…

Chris Sienkielewski has been a Jersey Girl from her birth as she was born in Jersey City and even married a guy from Bayonne. Her family moved to South Plainfield when she was 5 and Chris went back to Jersey City State College to get her teaching degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. She and her husband moved around the United States when he was in the Air Force and finally settled in Tacoma, Washington for 3 ½ years. During that time, they traveled across the country by car 5 times, following a different road each time, since she was afraid of flying. GFWC changed all that when she went to her first GFWC Convention in Indianapolis and on to Dallas, Houston, Boston, Seattle, Phoenix, New Orleans, St. Paul, San Francisco, Atlanta, Orlando, Las Vegas, Nashville, Memphis and Palm Dessert. All by plane!

Chris served as the New Jersey State Director of Junior Clubs from 1996-1998, and subsequently served twenty years on the GFWC Board of Directors in various positions in education, resolutions, leadership, conservation and violence against women. Chris also served NJSFWC as Corresponding Secretary, Community Improvement Program Chairman, Sixth District Vice President, Bylaws Chairman, Chairman of the Special State Project Investigating Committee, and three terms as Legislation/Resolutions Chairman. Chris is honored to serve the current administration as the Second Vice President. At the local club level, she is the President of the GFWC Central Valley Contemporary Club.

Professionally, Chris has been an educator for 45 years, teaching at various grade levels and was the director of a private preschool and kindergarten for 18 years. Later, she worked in the field of adult education developing curriculum and training for English as a Second Language. Chris is currently retired and hopes to someday write a children’s book.

Chris resides in South Plainfield with her husband, Rich, her son, Joe, daughter-in-law, Kim, their two children, Ryleigh and Greyson, along with two dogs, Baxter and Gunner, and two cats Toothless and Zucko. It’s a little crazy but never boring!
