Heartbreaking News: Convention Cancelled

Dear Friends,

With the coronavirus on our minds, it should come as no surprise when I tell you the NJSFWC 2020 Annual Convention has been cancelled. It breaks my heart that we won’t be able to be together in May to celebrate the accomplishments of 2018-2020 and welcome the incoming officers. However, the health and safety of our members is our #1 priority and we must comply with state and federal guidelines until the COVID-19 crisis has passed.

We will be voting electronically for officers. The ballots will be sent out after April 17. If there are any further nominees who were planning to run from the floor at Convention, please send the floor nomination form (found on the njsfwc.org website under Nominations and Elections) no later than April 10, so that the ballot can be prepared.

This message will answer many of the questions that have been on all of our minds. If, at the end, you still have questions, please contact your District Vice President or another member of the NJSFWC Board of Directors.

REGISTRATION – If you have already sent in your registration, you will be refunded. Please be patient, since our board members are currently staying home, per Governor Murphy’s directive.

Club presidents should fill out and return the DELEGATE REGISTRATION FORM that was included in the Call to Convention, if this has not already been sent. Do not include a registration fee. Remember that the deadline to register has been extended to April 17.

VOTING – Registered delegates will have the opportunity to vote for officers and other Federation business. Please follow the directions included with the ballot.

CONVENTION JOURNAL – Thank you to everyone who placed a congratulatory ad in the Convention journal. The book will be printed and distributed at the next District Council.

AWARDS – All award certificates for Best Reported Work, in the District and in the State, will be distributed at the next District Council.

WOMAN OF ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS – There are several factors that will determine when we will honor our Woman of Achievement Award recipients, including availability of the honorees. More information will be released as soon as we have answers.

CONVENTION-BY-MAIL ALMANAC – Be on the lookout for a special convention-by-mail issue of our NJSFWC newsletter, ALMANAC, which will be sent out to all clubs and will be posted on the njsfwc.org website. This should be sent out early in May and will contain a list of all awards, reports of the President and President-elect, and more!

In the meantime, stay safe and healthy!

In Federation,

Mary

ary Wolfe, President
NJSFWC of GFWC
