eConnection 12/15: Spelling Bee, Disaster Relief & More!

by Jan W. Hanson, NJSFWC President

Spelling Bee

If your club is holding a local Spelling Bee don’t forget to register by sending $20 to NJSFWC Headquarters earmarked Spelling Bee. This helps to defray the cost of prizes. Contact your District Chairman or State Chairman, Brandi Leigh Miller for information, miller@njsfwc.org. Instructions for holding a Spelling Bee can be found on the NJSFWC website under Materials, Education and Libraries, Spelling Bee.

Disaster Relief

If you would like to help with disaster relief for the States affected by the tornados, but do not know where to send a donation the NJSFWC has a Disaster Relief fund. Any money collected is sent to the designated GFWC State Federation to distribute. Recently, NJ received donations for GFWC California and the GFWC Legacy Club of Huntsville, Alabama to help with Hurricane Ida relief. That is what the GFWC sisterhood is all about.

LEADS

Is there someone in your club who shows Leadership potential? Do you want Leadership Training? The GFWC offers a one-day Leadership Education and Development Seminar on June 24, 2022 at the annual Convention in New Orleans. Each state is eligible to send a candidate. If you are interested, the information can be found in the December ALMANAC or on the NJSFWC website.

Resolutions

In 2017, we passed a Resolution to restrict the use of neonicotinoid pesticides. These are the pesticides responsible for killing honey bees. This bill, A2070, is finally coming before the full assembly, so please contact your state assemblyperson by email or phone and let them know you and the NJSFWC support this bill. The NJ Senate has already passed this bill. Save the honey.
