eConnection 11/4: GCI, Holiday Stockings, Club Programs
NJSFWC ECONNECTION – November 3, 2020 – Jan W. Hanson, NJSFWC President
Girls Career Institute (GCI)
We have been receiving questions about GCI, however, at this time we do not have too many answers. Rutgers is not going to start making any decisions until January so we cannot begin to plan. As of now, we are hoping to hold GCI, however, we also have to consider other options. As soon as we know something, we will let you know.
Operation Yellow Ribbon – Holiday Stockings
Thank you to all the Clubs that donated filled holiday stockings and donations for the Operation Yellow Ribbon. Chairman Gail Kovacs-Felici, along with her husband, Kevin, Karen Mannenback, Linda Carbley, her son Nick and Cindy Blumenkrantz counted and packed over 1,650 stockings. Operation Yellow Ribbon picked up 1,000 stockings, however, that left over 600 stockings needing an organization to ship them. So, this is why we ask you to share your information about your projects. The Long Valley Juniorettes reported that they were working with Operation Jersey Cares to send items to soldiers. Gail contacted this organization and they will be taking the rest of the stockings, guaranteeing that all the stockings will be going to our troops. For more information check out their website www.operationjerseycares.org. We look forward to working with both Operation Yellow Ribbon and Operation Jersey Cares in the future.
Club Programs
There have been some highs with being President during the Pandemic, most importantly, the support of the Clubs for our filled stocking and for Operation Chillout. What I miss, however, is the opportunity to meet with Clubwomen from across the State. Please consider inviting someone from the Board or even me to attend one of your virtual meetings. We can even present a program for your members or just have a question and answer session. If you are having membership issues, please contact your District Vice President, or 3rd Vice President, Susan Chambers.
