On the National Day of Service – NJSFWC clubs make a Difference
Thank you to Mary Lou Bak; Day of Service Chairman for coordinating the details with The Community Food Bank of New Jersey. Thank you to all of the District Day of Service Chairmen and the clubs who hosted the day for their District.
The numbers aren’t in yet from all Districts, so I can only report on the one I attended, my Home district-Shore. Point Pleasant Woman’s Club hosted the event at their clubhouse.
Two big signs greeted Club women and community members as they pulled up to the clubhouse. Their local paper ran a nice article letting community members know what was needed for the meal kits. This Officer was amazed with the turnout at Shore District! Members were manning tables for each meal kit, bagging needed items for each kit. There was an empty table for those entering to unload their bags of food while runners delivered the food to the appropriate table. Approximately 160 bags were put together with many extra items going to the food bank. Birthday bags were put together for Emmanuel Cancer Foundation, while another table had members making no-sew blankets. The membership chairman greeted every person who came through the door and had club fliers for interested women.
This is only one District! Add this to the other Districts! Thank you to every club woman who supported this project. With so much food insecurity in the world today, this project made a difference!
