Earthquake Hits New Jersey
eConnection: Special Edition
Friday, April 5, 2024
Good Afternoon Clubwomen,
In light of the recent seismic event, our thoughts are with every one of you who experienced the tremors of this morning’s 4.8 magnitude earthquake. Reports indicate the tremors were felt across the tri-state area, with the epicenter located near Lebanon, not far from our Headquarters in New Brunswick. I plan to be at our Headquarters tomorrow to assess any potential damage.
One of our staff members, Joanne Mangels, reported several items falling off the walls at her residence, resulting in some breakage. Personally, I experienced the quake in Barnegat, situated roughly an hour and twenty minutes from New Brunswick. At that moment, the reality of what was occurring did not immediately dawn on me. My dog, too, was noticeably upset by the shaking.
It is during such unforeseen circumstances that the spirit of support and concern among our NJSFWC members truly shines through. We are immensely grateful for this sense of community. It is our collective concern for one another—stemming from bonds that have deepened into friendships akin to family—that embodies the true essence of the NJSFWC. Remaining connected and engaged with each other, especially in times like these, provides comfort and strengthens our bond.
Please, take a moment to reach out to your friends and family, ensuring their safety and well-being.
Shirley Holly
NJSFWC President
